From one Form to Another is inspired by and in honor of the depth of knowledge and wisdom preserved in Indigenous Traditional Crafts and Designs. It is also influenced by one of NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory coding activities: “How to Talk to a Spacecraft”.
More specifically, this body of work is an examination of “intelligence” via communication signals and knowledge exchange systems and the ways in which various forms and elements of “writings” have been and continue to be, appropriated and in turn coded with messages that are often symbolically distorted and weaponized by those who seek power by way of domination and control.
Additionally, From one Form to Another is a critique on centuries of global brutality rooted in colonial and imperial criminality. It is an initial point of investigation, underlining the international interplay between elitist and exclusionary settler colonial fields of study and the inherently violent and corrupt institutions harboring and upholding white supremacist core ideologies, systems, structures, and foundations.

HUMANITY, 2023
Acrylic, cotton thread, repurposed “binary beads” on canvas hanging between reclaimed wood
58” x 60” x 1.5”
This work is in contemplation of what it means to place “myself” (ANA) within HUMANITY as a way to see “myself” (ANA) within HUMANITY, as a way to be personally accountable for accepting or rejecting human error even though no one may notice, question, or perhaps even care.
After one year, one square will be altered, transforming A to I.
